Uganda Rwenzori Mountains
Bold, sweet and unmistakably African.
This coffee comes from the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains in western Uganda, where smallholder farmers cultivate Arabica coffee on fertile volcanic soils. Through Sucafina's community-focused sourcing programme in the Mbuku region, farmers receive support aimed at improving coffee quality, farm productivity and long-term sustainability.
The traditional natural process, where the coffee cherries are dried in the sun before milling, creates a cup with exceptional sweetness and character. Expect notes of dark chocolate, hazelnut and ripe red fruit, supported by a rich body and smooth finish.
At Amstel Koffie, I roast this coffee to a carefully developed medium profile. Not too light, where the fruit can become overpowering, and not too dark, where bitterness overshadows the coffee's natural sweetness. My goal is always balance — allowing the chocolate, nut and fruit notes to complement one another in a harmonious cup.
Beyond its flavour, this coffee represents something I believe strongly in: great coffee starts with great farmers. By supporting producers in the Rwenzori Mountains who are committed to quality and sustainable farming practices, every cup contributes to a stronger future for coffee-growing communities.
